ワシントンD.C.の１０km 北東部に Kenwood という桜の
名所があるということを知りました。
日本では、音響メーカーのブランドで有名ですが、
実際の地名であるんですね、
ワシントンDCの桜といえば、Tidal Basin（タイダルベイスン）やポトマック川沿いの桜が有名ですが、メリーランド州にある高級住宅街Kenwood（ケンウッド）も隠れた桜の名所なんです。
住宅街の路肩に植えられた街路樹の殆ど全てが桜で、この地区の家の庭には、1軒につき最低1本の桜を植えなければならないという規則があるそうです。

One of the things that Washingtonians as well as tourists look forward to in the spring is the annual cherry blossom season. But what some people do not know is that there is another great place to enjoy the beauty of the cherry trees: Kenwood.
Located in Bethesda, Md., Kenwood is a unique place to be, especially when the cherry trees start to bloom. Originally, the trees a couple hundred were planted even before housing construction began in the area. With more than 1,200 of them today, the neighborhood is an incredible vision of white flowers and petals during the spring season.
Every year, locals as well as tourists gather in Kenwood to enjoy the cherry blossom season. Because the cherry trees are found along the side or in front of the houses you would think that those thousands of people flocking around would bother the residents, but the Kenwoodians are more than happy to show off their treasure to the world.
With the vast number of tourists that visit the area during the cherry blossom season, the kids of Kenwood have been very enterprising by putting up refreshment stands, selling water and lemonade as well cookies and brownies. The kids are very happy with their business as they can earn as much as $100 per day.
People in the Kenwood community are close to each other, with most of them belonging to the Kenwood Citizens Association. On top of organizing the annual cherry blossom race in the neighborhood, the association also puts up Easter hunts, Fourth of July barbecue, and many more events.
If you have not had the opportunity to visit Kenwood, then be sure to make a stop there this year. The beauty of the cherry trees in this neighborhood will amaze you and there is no need to worry about parking: There are plenty of spots for your car.
